A meeting with EPC Contractor and MWH was held today at MPL’s Conference room to discuss and finalize the Basic Design of the project along with possible options to optimize the EPC cost. EPC Contractor, Consultants and MPL team are working hard to meet the project timeline as decided in all Lenders meeting in Singapore.
ADB safeguards team, Southern Waters South Africa and Mira Power Limited reviewed the status of drift study for ecological flow assessment of the project.
ADB and Mira Power Limited met with ecologist and fish experts at Hagler Bailly to review the current status of fish diversity and challenges to ecologically important species.
ADB’s team verified the current status of illegal fishing and threats to Mahasher in Poonch River. AJK Fisheries & Wildlife department caught some of the nets used for fishing. This practice is still underway.
ADB’s safeguards representatives completed a site verification visit. The team and MPL representatives conducted an onsite meeting with Director AJK Forest, Fisheries and Wildlife department and Director Himalayan Wildlife Foundation.
